D’après le Digital News Report 2022 du Reuters Institute, entre 32 et 82% des personnes, selon les pays, utilisent les réseaux sociaux pour s’informer. Cette tendance croissante a permis aux entreprises technologiques de façonner les choix et les normes de communication et, en fin de compte, de structurer l’espace de l’information et de la communication.
Il a été prouvé que la gestion et la valorisation faites des entreprises technologiques ont de plus en plus nui au débat public, en amplifiant les contenus violents et les théories du complot, tout en peinant à promouvoir la diversité des idées et des informations ainsi qu’à favoriser le pluralisme des médias.
Il est urgent de mettre en place de nouveaux garde-fous pour garantir le pluralisme de l’information en ligne.
